"Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you what your heart desires." (Psalm 37:4) God knows our desires. He knows what you want and He will give it to you, just be obedient and cling to Him. When you have that in your mind, then you sleep well. He is the One who takes care of your tomorrow. He is the one who shapes your tomorrow.
When you know Him, you are at peace. We only have to pray. The Lord loves what the heart expresses. What is the disposition of your heart? Formulas are useless. Anne was in her corner, she was mortified. She was there in the temple because she trusted God. Eli thought she was drunk, but she was expressing the sadness of her heart. This upset Eli, "May the God of Israel answer your prayer to him!" (1 Samuel 1:17) Often when we pray, we want the Lord to do. When God answers, be grateful! God loves the gratitude that comes from the heart. There were 10 lepers, all of them were healed but only one came back to thank the Lord. You don't know God. He lets you do it but you don't see that He is watching you! You hear the Word, He teaches you and then He watches you do. Always thank the people who have prayed for you. Ingratitude is a bad thing. Appreciate what others do for you. At Pentecost, they put everything together. We must be as the Lord wants. Let us be liberal. Let's each contribute our part. I would rather put my money into the church than anywhere else. The things of God, we do voluntarily. We are called to take part in it. We can pray but we must also be in action.
Luke 24:37-49
The women went to the tomb and saw it empty, but Jesus showed Himself to them. They told this, but the disciples did not believe. Then He showed up on the road to Emmaus, but the others were doubtful. They had difficulty admitting this. Something like this had never happened before. When Jesus appeared to them, they thought they had seen a ghost, so they were frightened. They had seen Him dead and buried, they thought they saw a spirit. But it was Jesus Himself in the flesh. He ate with them to prove it. A spirit cannot eat.
Put yourself in their place. The one you loved and was killed, you now see him alive. They had hope in Him. There was joy mixed with fear. See the dimension of joy.
The Lord was showing them that even though they were with Him every day, that at some point they lost sight of who this man was that was with them. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1) "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us" (John 1:14) The disciples must have known that the One who was in front of them was the Scripture. "For in him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead in the body. (Colossians 2:9) See how important God is to Scripture. What is Scripture? It is what is written. But what is written? When I speak, it's not scripture but a word. The Scripture is the Word of God put in writing. The written Word has the same power of what has been said. God cannot act apart from His Word. "The word of the Lord came to me, saying, 'What do you see, Jeremiah? And I said, 'I see an almond tree branch. And the Lord said unto me, Thou hast seen well; for I have kept my word, to do it." (Jeremiah 1:11-12) What was said of Jesus is what was written. The Holy Scriptures are God in written form. "But men, moved by the Holy Spirit, spoke from God. (2 Peter 1:21) So understand how important the Scriptures are to God's people and to God. That is why the ark was so important, no one could touch the ark. It was God who was in there. When the priests stepped into the Jordan with the ark, the water went away.
